About the Community Foundation

The Greater Milan Area Community Foundation is a permanent and growing charitable community endowment that, through a wide variety of grants and programs, serves to enhance life in Milan, Michigan.

The Greater Milan Area Community Foundation (GMACF) directly impacts the cultural, economic, educational, and environmental quality of life in the Milan, Michigan area. Through endowment funds managed by GMACF in partnership with the Community Foundation of Monroe County, the Foundation is able to support organizations such as the Historical Society, Aid in Milan, and the Library.

Additionally, we award as much as $50,000 a year in scholarships and grants to programs such as meal delivery for seniors, life-saving defibrillators for the city police, breakfast for underprivileged youngsters struggling with math, funding for the burgeoning high school robotics program, and a project to clear local waterways for canoeing, to name a few.

We do all these things with income earned from investments made up of both small and large cash donations, stock donations, donated insurance policies and real estate, corporate sponsorships, matching gifts from donor employers, proceeds from our annual gala, memorial gifts in lieu of flowers, and bequeathed legacy gifts from donors like you.

Your contributions help us to do big things for a little community.    For Good. For Ever.

The foundation achieves its mission by:
  • Encouraging interest in charitable giving and providing a flexible means for donors to perpetuate their varied philanthropic interests in the Milan area.
  • Serving as a respected steward for assets entrusted to its care by individuals, families, businesses and organizations while providing maximum tax benefits to the donor.
  • Providing professional management of those assets, the income from which is used to meet the community’s charitable needs in ways that are compatible with both the wishes of the donor and the goals of the foundation.
  • Donors may wish to set up a named fund with their gifts. A named fund may be established with cash, stock, insurance policies, real estate or other tangible property. There are several options.
